A STROLL IN SAUTERNES

on waymarked trails around the village of Sauternes, where we will start from, come and discover the landscape beauty of the Sauternes vineyard, with vines covering slopes, small vineyard workers' houses, pigeons houses, rubble stone walls shring the vine plots, old washing places...
The morning walking tour will lead us to the Ciron, this little brook which allows to produce here the best sweet white wines of the world. On our way, We will pass by the Chateau Lamothe and on our way back, we will discover the splendid Chateau Filhot and its park.
After a lunch at the village inn, we will head for the north in order to reach the highest part of the Sauternes vineyard (but only 100 m high!) where highly reputated chateaux are located. We wiil pass near the Chaeau d'Arche to reach a hill top where to have a beautiful view on the Garonne river valley and several well-known chateaux, including the most famous one, Château d'Yquem. We will then go to Château Guiraud for a visit and a wine tasting, before coming bakc to the village, departure and ending point of this walk.
This trek is formed by two 6.5-km loops, and one or the other can therefore be used as a half-day walk.
