Walk duration: 1 daythe Sauve Majeure abbey
Walking distance: about 15 kms
Dates: on request, for groups of 4 persons and more

The benedictine abbey of La Sauve Majeure, founded in 1079 on the way to Santiago de Compostella, is the major historic monument in the Entre-Deux-Mers territory, which widely owes its development to the abbey. La Sauve can then be considered as the historical heart of the region.

Starting from the today ruined abbey, we will stroll during the moring in the woods and the vine plots covering the northern part of the village. On our way, we will admire many beautiful old houses and will enjoy nice views on the abbey. We will also cross several times the cycling track going from Bordeaux to Sauveterre de Guyenne, which has been established on the old railway.

before the lunch at the Abbey Restaurant, we will enjoy a wine tasintg at the Ente-Deux-Mers wine house.

Thise who wish to visit the abbey will have the opportunity after lunch.

In the afternoon, we will head for the south where you will enjoy nice vineyard views, in the quietness of the vine alleys. You will discover the hamlet living organisation, inherited from the region's agricultural tradition. Of course, an estate visit with a wine tasting will be part of the afternoon program.

This trek is formed by two 7.5-km loops, and one or the other can therefore be used as a half-day walk.
