The Entre-Deux-Mers (= "between two seas") is a vast area located between the Garonne and the Dordogne rivers, and one of the oldest vineyards in the Bordeaux region. It developed from the Xth century with the setting up of the 3 abbeys of La Sauve, Blasimon and Saint-Ferme which led to the deforestation of the Silva Major (= "the Big Forest" in Latin).
A traditional polyculture region since then, the Entre-Deux-Mers was the Bordeaux granary for centuries. You still can admire many wind and water mills surviving from this period all over the region.
It's only after the 2nd World War that the vineyard became preponderant. It nowadays is the production region for the dry white wines of Entre-Deux-Mers of course, but also the main production area for Bordeaux dry white wines, Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieurs red wines.
The slopes along the Garonne river right bank are devoted to Premières Côtes de Bordeaux red wines between Saint-Loubes and Cadillac, but also provide between Cadillac and Langon sweet white wines under the appellations of Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, Cadillac, Loupiac and Sainte-Croix-du-Mont .
We offer you to discover this region through 5 different walks (new ones to come later).
a rambling day around Saint-Aubin de Branne and Naujan et Postiac;
- Closer to Bordeaux, on the slopes dominating the Garonne river, we propose you
a walking day in the 1ère Côtes de Bordeaux vineyards between Lestiac and Capian.
